Space Telescope Science Institute (STScI) is the science operations center for the Hubble Space Telescope and mission operations for the James Webb Space Telescope.
For years, STScI has used Oracle database to run their COTS financial application. As part of an internal effort to retire legacy systems and reduce cost, the Oracle database running on legacy hardware needed to be addressed.
Solution
I worked with STScI (business, information tech, and senior management) to understand the service levels, analyze Oracle software license + features leveraged within the database, provide roadmap + recommendations, then implement solution for migrating Oracle database to SQL Server with minimum downtime.
Results
STScI was able to achieve their goals.
